JOB TITLE: Field Technician (Engr’g Technician I)

BUSINESS SERVICE LINE: PACRIM

CONTRACT: Contract Hire – Maui Disaster Response - Phase 1

REPORTS TO: Project Manager

POSITION DESCRIPTION

As a Field Technician, you will be responsible for managing information entered into multiple applications. The Field Technician will work with crews that are removing various materials from each property and will be required to document all material removed. Documentation may include data entry, photographs, geolocation, and other duties as assigned. Field Technicians will accompany crews in the field assessing various items for potential removal and will be required to enter data communicated to them by the crews, photograph and geolocate specific item, and additional tasks as they arise.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ability to accurately enter data into tablet-based software applications.
  • Ability to work as part of a team with limited supervision.
  • Attend safety & operations meetings.
  • Observe surroundings for possible hazards.
  • Collaborate with other Field Technicians to maintain project progress, ensuring timely completion of deliverables.
  • Support project documentation and reporting, including creating and maintaining project charters, work breakdown structures, and project status reports.
  • Ensure adherence to project management methodologies, processes, and best practices.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure effective coordination and communication among project stakeholders.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and contribute to the implementation of efficiency initiatives.
  • Handle escalated project-related issues and conflicts, working towards resolution and ensuring customer satisfaction.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties in this job classification.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER training with valid 8-hour refresher training certificate or have the ability to obtain.
  • Ability to work outside with variable hours in inclement weather conditions.
  • Medical clearance and ability to wear a respirator.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
  • Valid State driver’s License.
  • Basic math skills - measurements (weight, volume, and distance).
  • Technical proficiency with Mobile devices and job-related software and tools.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills to complete responsibilities.
  • Ability to work outside for up to 12.5 hours per day, up to six days a week in harsh field conditions.
  • Employee must be dependable and show up daily to a muster point.
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and quality of work.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • One year or more of experience in the environmental or construction industries is preferred.
  • Enjoy working outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Show good judgement and sensitivity in and around worksites, including not taking personal pictures or posting work site related materials on social media out of extreme sensitivity to those impacted by these fires.
  • Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures given in English.
  • Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards.
  • Must be able to work in a potentially stressful environment.
  • Focus on overall Safety and commitment to working as a team.
  • College level degree in associated field is preferred.
